The “Knot” (bad guys) are actually presented in quite a sympathetic way at times and although the ending is predictable I still enjoyed it with King showing glimpses of what he could do in his younger days. Well, I tried not to get too rational while I read this but it did make me re-read "The Shining", a much better story. It's the story of Danny and picks up when he's in his 30s with little explanation of where he's been in the interim period.Not a read-with-the-lights-on-horror but an excellent story! It's been a long while ago that I read the Shining but it didn't matter, things come back to you, and I didn't even really need to read the Shining to get this book.

So, even though it's only been a few days since I picked up The Shining and sat spellbound by its supernatural thrillings, I was equal parts excited and nervous about Doctor Sleep.Reviewed in the United Kingdom on November 26, 2018 Definitely worth the read. I haven’t read much Steven King for some time as some of his later books lacked the quality of The Stand, The Shining, etc etc....but I was glad I read this one. I mean, really...Vampires with pirate names that suck psychic energy (called steam) from highly psychic people?
