!In New Jersey on a business trip we decided on dinner at Roots after researching reviews, and what a find! Service is good though we seemed to have multiple waiters t/o the meal which is always confusing.
Kudos! Surely we'd have no problem getting a romantic spot for two at the bar at 8:30 on a rainy Tuesday. All was good but the tuna dish was my favorite. I had never been to Roots and have lived in the area forever!! I had seared Ahi tuna topped with a coarse salt and wasabi cream along with blistered shishito peppers which was fantastic, and we also tried a few appetizers and pretty much all of the desserts including a perfect crème brulée and key lime pie. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the great service. I hope to have the opportunity to visit again sometime.

Roots is well known for their steaks and dinning experiences. Luis was with us through it all with his warm smile and friendly demeanor and we all enjoyed chatting with him. Top- knotch, truly exceptional service from the moment we walked in, and our waiter Luis was phenomenal. We also tried a few appetizers and pretty much all of the desserts including a divine crème brulée and key lime pie. Nice selection of cuts and a great steak sandwich for lunch !
!Great food, exceptional service, and a classy atmosphere, this is my go-to premier steakhouse in New Jersey, including Prime,A more than solid steakhouse experience at this spot. Last visit, we ordered salad, burgers and wine.
The food has always been exceptional but the last time the service wasn't as good as in the past. Wife and I got the porterhouse for 2 and it was bland and cold by the time we got it. What is unique about this location is that the owner not only owns this steakhouse, but a number of other fine dining restaurants in the surrounding area.
My share of a large group dinner was $95.

Executive Chef Bruce Johnson grills superb cuts of beef under an 1800-degree broiler to produce crackling, brown-black hunks of New York strip and T-bone and filet. Ambiance wise - it's dark, a bit loud but cozy. Everything was perfect except for the lobster roll, I wasn't a fan but it was still good enough to eat. Bar prices are beyond bizarre, $15 for a glass of Cabernet...a glass!!! Made a unexpected stop in and sat at the bar about 3 pm on a Saturday.
Don't go thirsty during dinner! Large bar area in the side front w/an extensive wine and cocktail list. Much better than you would expect from your average steakhouse.Have always been a fan of the service and quality here .
Sides are not to be ignored because the creamed spinach and onion rings are a must.Overall, a great, classy, NYC-styled (or infused) steakhouse, with charm, elegance, a terrific fine wine list, along with lovely selections by the glass, and very impressive, high quality cuts of meat, sides, salads, desserts, and service. The quality of food, the exceptional staff are totally worth your money.Had a wonderful milestone birthday celebration here in May. The lighting inside the restaurant was very dim. The shrimp cocktail is amazing. For a starter, we ordered the burrata and shrimp cocktail. In all honesty, some servers are better (and more attentive) than others, much like anywhere, but a friendly, courteous, professional, extroverted Manager by the name of Chris made our last-minute reservation, for dinner, a wonderful one! Roots brings it to NJ with prime steaks, fine wines and exceptional service.
The side dishes are very well portioned.
We were greeted as soon as we opened the door. Service was good and the food better. The steaks are what you would expect and beyond.
